Zbigniew “Spish” Rurak

Spish has over twenty years of executive search and recruiting experience in the course of which he has interviewed almost 3,000, and recruited nearly 300 executives in a broad spectrum of industries and functions.

He founded Rurak & Associates, Inc. in 1987 to focus on executive search and selection for senior management in close relationships with a limited number of clients. Previously, he had been a Partner for three years in the Washington, DC office of a nationally-ranked executive search firm.

Before entering the search profession, Spish worked in corporate planning, marketing, international sales, and product management positions with the Communications Satellite Corporation in Washington, DC. Earlier, he had been a management consultant for three years with McKinsey & Company, Inc. in Düsseldorf where he served US and European multinationals in the telecommunications, energy, transportation, and consumer products industries.

Spish obtained an MSc in Economics in 1976 from the London School of Economics, and a BA in Government in 1969 from Harvard University. He also studied on a postgraduate level at Oxford University and the University of Warsaw, after serving four years as an officer in the US Navy in engineering duties at sea and in signals intelligence assignments overseas.

Spish is fluent in Polish and German, and has a working knowledge of French and Russian.
